Meet the Teachers!

Megan
I am so excited to go to Belize and work with children from different cultures. I cannot wait to build connections with the students, faculty members, and my peers throughout the experience!

Julia
I am looking forward to traveling to Belize for a new cultural experience especially within the teaching field. I am hoping to gain a new perspective for those who don’t have the same resources I have. I am wanting to return with a new appreciation for the things that I do have.

Riley
I am beyond excited for this teaching opportunity in Belize, because it will allow me to step outside of my comfort zone and expand my teaching philosophies. Teaching and learning alongside my peers, my professors, and the students and teachers of Belize, will be an experience that I will carry with me into my future teaching career.

Natalie
I am so looking forward to getting to work with the students in Belize and learn more about their culture. I am also looking forward to learning more about how to teach in such diverse settings. Seeing the beautiful sights the country offers is included.

Hannah
I am looking forward to being emerged in a culture different from my own and having new experiences while in Belize.

Dr. Finch
This will be my third visit to Belize and the villages of Red Bank and San Pablo. Looking forward to returning to Belize, seeing friends and colleagues, working with the teachers and students in the schools, as well as exposing our own University of Louisville students to the people and the culture.

Abby
I am looking forward to seeing their teaching methods in another country and to see other possibility of my future as an educator outside of the United States.

Caitlynn
I hope to gain lifelong skills such as teaching in diverse settings, collaboration with peers as well as how to be okay with stepping outside of my comfort zone.

Kelly
What I am looking forward to in Belize is experiencing a new culture and new styles of teaching. I am excited to bring these experiences back with me and use them for my future classrooms.

Kayla
I have never taught in a classroom outside of JCPS so I am looking most forward to experiencing the diverse teaching and learning styles of Belize. I am also very excited to broaden my travel experiences and become submerged in a different culture.

Kaitlyn
Hi, my name is Kaitlyn Hill. I am so excited to be able to visit Belize with this group to share ideas and collaborate teaching styles. I am looking forward to the new connections, beliefs, and culture that we will experience through this trip. My ultimate goal is to leave the world better than I found it and by interacting with the lovely people of Belize will help make that mission possible!

Olivia
I’m very excited to go to Belize to be immersed in a new culture! I am looking forward to meeting and learning about the students.

Riley
I am looking forward to our trip to Belize as I have the dream to teach outside of the country after I graduate in order to experience new cultures and share my knowledge with children all over the world. Teaching is a passion of mine and I want to challenge myself and extend my learning through various experiences.

Haylee
Hi! I’m Haylee & I am so excited to visit Belize! I can’t wait to be in the schools and learn so much from the teachers and students I will meet there. I hope to impact the students and I know they will impact me!

Lauren
One thing I'm most excited about for Belize is getting to see the kiddos I was with last year! Also, the plantain chips.

Katie
I am looking most forward to expanding my knowledge of the cultural influences on students and their education from a first hand view. I am excited to be given the opportunity to not only learn about the Belizean culture and education, but to collaborate with my international host teacher in order to provide her with my own knowledge of successful learning through my experiences in the education program at the University of Louisville.

Rebekah
As I have matured throughout the program, even from last semester to now, my perspectives on pedagogy and educational approaches have shifted and broadened with the expansion of new cultural exposure. I want to participate in this to help me broaden my experience even further in order for me to use and make an impact in the future as an educator.

Hannah
I cannot wait to meet the students and teachers we will be working with in Belize! I am excited to see the similarities and differences within the schools compared to those here in Louisville, and to be able to learn from them and bring those experience back home to improve my skills as a future teacher.

Jennifer
I'm excited to go to Belize because learning how to teach to a culture different from mine will help me connect and better teach my future students. One of my goals also includes teaching abroad and this will be an incredible experience to begin that.

Kesley
I am excited to work with the students in Belize and students. I want to learn about the new culture and working with UofL through lessons when teaching students that I don’t know as well or their daily lives. I want to see how abroad teaching goes to see if I would want to do it after I graduate!

Emily
I'm looking forward to Belize for many reasons! I'm most excited about getting to go on this trip because I will get to create lifelong memories with peers who have the same passion as me- teaching! We will get to do something we love while making a positive difference in some children's lives. While I'm excited about getting to make a difference is their lives, I can't imagine how they're going to make me feel (I'm thinking they're going to steal my heart!).

Brianna
I am looking forward to being emerged into a culture that I have not yet been exposed, along with the school system in Belize. I look forward to learning from these individuals and bringing back knowledge to my future classroom.
